Tell us a little about the company
At David Taylor Garages we are a family run business with over 35 years’ experience with the Isuzu franchise and workshops.
My father started the business in the 1960’s in the town of Crickhowell. In 1970 he moved to our new site in Llangattock, and a few years later my siblings and I came to join him.
I took over the business with my wife, Chris, in May 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, with our daughter Katherine coming into the business a year later.
Since taking over, we have put a lot of time and effort into updating the property, branding and expansion.
As of 2022 we have expanded the business to include the Corvus, Logic and M-Tec franchises, branching further into supporting the agricultural community.

Dechreuodd fy nhad y busnes yng Nghrucywel. Yn 1970 symudodd i’r safle presennol yn Llangatwg ac yn fuan wedyn ymunes i a gweddill y teulu.
Ym mis Mai 2020, ar ddechrau’r’ pandemig fe ddechreuodd fy ngwraig a minnai cymryd drosodd y busnes. Blwyddyn yn ddiweddarach ymunodd ein merch Katherine ac mae nifer o newidiadau a gwelliannau wedi cymryd lle.
Ers 2022 rydym wedi tyfu’r busnes sydd bellach yn cynnwys Corvus, Logic a M-Tec gan symud ym mhellach mewn i’r gymuned amaethyddol.
What do you offer as a business?
We offer sales of new and used Isuzu pickups, Corvus UTV vehicles, all Logic agricultural equipment and M-Tec trailers. Although sales is a massive part of our business we pride ourselves in our after sales and customer service.
As well as the sales, we have a workshop which offers servicing, parts, MOTs and tyres for all makes and models of class 4 vehicles.
We also have a number of commercial units and caravan storage on site.

How many people are employed by the business?
Within the business there are 11 members of staff; 5 mechanical technicians, 1 service and parts advisor, 2 salespeople, 3 in accounting.

How have things changed in the business since you started?
The business has changed massively over the years. Our workshops have gone from pits in the ground to two and four poster ramps. We have worked with numerous other franchises including Ford, Ssangyong and Hyundai but have always come back to Isuzu.

What is the best thing about the brands you sell?
The best thing about the Isuzu D-Max is how truly reliable they are. I have been passionate about the Isuzu brand since I first started working at the garage, so I know the product inside and out.
The brand-new top of the range V-cross has everything you could possibly wish for; leather interior, 9” multifunction touchscreen, ADAS, isofix and more, making it the perfect family vehicle. Adding to these features, its 3.5 tonne towing capacity and over 1.1 tonne payload makes the Isuzu D-max a true workhorse.
M-Tec engineering is also a family run business and this shows in the quality of their products. Each of the trailers is handmade and goes through vigorous testing before moving on to its next destination. These trailers are extremely robust, and the quality is second to none. You really do have to see these trailers to appreciate their quality.
Logic is well known for their high quality, robust equipment and provides equipment to suit a variety of different sectors including agriculture, forestry, equestrian, gamekeeping and ground care. I’ve been using Logic equipment for years on my own farm, so when the opportunity arose to get onboard the franchise, I didn’t hesitate.
The Corvus UTVs have been a great new addition to the business, and work well with the Logic products. These UTV vehicles are European made and designed with comfort and versatility in mind. Whether you work in agriculture, forestry, turf care or construction, this all terrain vehicle will not let you down. A major draw to the Corvus UTV is its reasonable price tag starting from just £18,995 + VAT.

What is your unique selling point?
We believe that aftersales is as important, if not more important, than the sales themselves.
From the moment a customer sets foot into our showroom, to 10+ years down the line, we aim to provide the same level of customer care.
I am a massive believer in having plenty of stock on site at all times. “If you don’t have it, you can’t sell it.” At David Taylor Garages, customers can walk onto our forecourt and have the choice of 40+ vehicles of all different colours, the full range of M-Tec trailers (livestock boxes, tipping trailers, single and double axle trailers and more), a variety of Logic products (weed wipers, rollers, harrows, electro broadcasters etc) as well as 10 Corvus UTVs including the new electric EX4 model.

Tell us about your recent open day
We are extremely excited to have held our first open day since 2011 on the 29th June 2024 at The Glebe, Llandetty. This time it was bigger and better, with all four of our franchises present and represented by specialists, Isuzu off-road driving experience, Corvus UTV test driving (Diesel and Electric), children’s entertainment including inflatables, an evening of live entertainment from The Black Rat Effect, and a meet and greet from Welsh rugby player Josh Navidi.
