Since 2011, we have provided our invaluable customers with the very best agricultural machinery to help support and conserve the industry for future generations. Our team of dedicated engineering specialists work collaboratively with local farmers and businesses to ensure that everyone keeps on moving, whilst at the same time being considerate of the environment.
Our long-term vision is to become the leading supplier of farm machinery in Cheshire, while maintaining our reputation for being safe, economical, and reliable. We also want to become widely known within the farming community, so customers know that they can rely on us for specific advice and expertise.
When was the business started and by whom? How did the business start?
The business was started in 2011 by business partners Andrew Dutton and Stephen Sykes. After many years working and gaining experience at various agricultural dealerships, both Andrew and Stephen decided it was time to set up their own entrepreneurial adventure.
With what started as just a small yard and a few machines at the old Marbury House Farm site, Cheshire Farm Machinery has grown to become an established dealership, working with many well known brands including Manitou, Deutz-Fahr, Kubota, Sunward, Harry West, Broughan, Kverneland, and SlurryKat.
What have been the biggest changes in the business or biggest change in what you sell in that time?
Cheshire Farm Machinery has grown considerably as an agricultural dealer, now occupying good brand awareness throughout both Cheshire and North Wales.
A few notable changes over the years include moving to a larger site at Grange Farm in 2017, becoming an approved Kubota dealership, launching a new subsidiary company called ‘Cheshire Farm Supplies’, and purchasing the nearby firm RTC Agricultural.
What’s the best thing about the brands you sell?
Here at Cheshire Farm Machinery, we are acclaimed dealers for many established brands. These include Deutz-Fahr, Manitou, and Kubota. Each brand has a range of benefits:
Manitou’s machines are known for being high quality and durable, so they can withstand heavy agricultural use.
Kubota want their tractors to be easily accessible, and offer farmers great support and service options for their equipment.
Deutz-Fahr is widely known for its engine technology, as every machine produced prioritises fuel efficiency, low carbon emissions, and increased durability.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
“In agriculture, it is always best to buy from people you know or trust.”
Here at Cheshire Farm Machinery, we always aim to offer the very best advice to customers so they can rest assured that they are purchasing the most suitable and relevant products for their specific needs.
When considering farm equipment, customers must factor in the size of their farm, budget expectations, maintenance plans, and whether they want new or used machinery. Hence why carrying out research beforehand is fundamental advice for success within the agricultural sector.
What has been the most memorable sale you’ve made / moment in the business?
One of the most memorable moments at Cheshire Farm Machinery is hosting the yearly Open Day event, as it gives everyone within the industry the chance to get expert advice and see the latest advances in the machinery we stock. We particularly enjoy these open days as it gives us the opportunity to see familiar faces along with welcoming many new customers.
In terms of the most memorable sale, it has got to be selling an incredible 16 Deutz Fahr tractors all to the same customer in 2016. The customer was very happy with the purchases and support they received from us and has since become a loyal customer of ours.
What’s the funniest/strangest question a customer has ever asked you?
This is a tricky one, but it has got to be when a customer asks, “Do you deliver?”. The answer to this is absolutely! We strive to go above and beyond in keeping our customers happy through meeting their individual needs and requirements.
What are the most exciting developments to come in agricultural machinery in the next few years?
While Brexit and the pandemic have caused some strain on the agricultural sector, there are many exciting developments to look forward to over the next few years. Firstly, it is anticipated that machines will become lighter, which means local farmers and businesses will be able to purchase machines that are more efficient and environmentally friendly. The advancement of telematic technology is also making the tracking of machine performance a lot more accessible. The use of telematics means any maintenance issues can be easily identified, and workflow can be better managed.
Any interesting/innovative/new machines arriving in the coming weeks or months?
The Manitou MLT961-160V+L is due on site soon. With a 9m lifting height, Yanmar engine and M-Vario Plus transmission, the 961 agricultural telehandler offers optimum performance and cost efficiency.
What would you say to potential customers about why they should come to you?
